We have a varied, exciting, practical, inclusive, fun, hands-on African Music and arts workshops, Resdentials, Master classes and demonstrations  by many of our featured African  artists & bands available for  events, venues & promoters . We can run  pre- show and event workshops or community outreach sessions. Our workshops are based  around the instruments, songs,  rythms and African dances by our  performers and teachers. These interactive workshops can have great impact on the audiences, venues and guesta at any occasion.

African djembe drumming:

With the facilitation of the Abantu team of teacher and instructors,each group will get the opportunity to play djembes and different African drums and percussion instruments.The emphasis will be very much hands-on and everyone will be able to participate irrespective of his or her musical background.

Our djembe workshop is guaranteed to be a lot of fun and it will create a real buzz !

Our workshops are very flexible and can be tailored to meet the needs of any group.

Akogo Workshops:

Even if you didn’t know the real name of the famous African thumb piano, you will instantly recognise its lilting voice! Recreate this exquisitely joyful sound as your thumbs learn to dance in our Akogo workshops.

Amadinda Workshops:

A beater is used to play the wooden keys of this African xylophone. A good sound is guaranteed without tricky hand techniques making this the workshop of choice for children and adults new to African music.

Interactive African Performances:

We will have you clapping, stomping and dancing along with us in an electrifying interactive show, with plenty of opportunities for audience members to join with us playing instruments on stage. We bring a whole new meaning to ‘live’ performance and promise you a total immersion in African culture you will long remember!
