Denis Kigongo  Originally from Uganda in East Africa, I now live and work in Devon South West England. I am founder and director of Abantu arts, which was created, to explore, develop and pass on traditional, educational African art forms, using music, dance, poetry, story telling and hand crafts.
My goal is to paint a more positive image of the continent of Africa and to help dispel negative stereotypes of the African continent and its people.
I have been running educative African culture edutainment projects for the last 4 years through open workshops, performances, youth programs, promotion of new artists, lecture demonstrations, community outreach & creative partnership programs with renowned artists and other performing companies.
ANDIGWA  I was born in Zomba, Malawi, and learned to dance in Malawi and Zambia, where I later lived. In England I train intensively with African dancers such as Badejo Arts, Gabs Maboungo of the Congo, Isioma Williams of Nigeria, amongst others, and in Zambia, I refresh my dancing with the Kaloko Trust dance troupe.
I have choreographed, taught and performed African dance for over 15 years. In the last five years I have conducted over 190 arts and dance projects including story telling with dance and live drumming, costumes, masks, African textiles and food workshops. Monica Monica has discovered a love of African dance after a varied dance history. She studied ballet for ten years and toured with a South American dance troupe before training with West African drumming and dance troupes 'Kabudu' and 'Unity Train'.
She has been studying African dance for the last 12 years and has been teaching dance for the last 6 years, both to adults and children.
Denise Rowe Is one of the Abantu arts dancers and dance teachers, singer and mbira player with ten years experience performing and teaching traditional pan-African dance. Denise has been solo dancer and singer in the international world music outfit, Baka Beyond. She is co-founder, choreographer and dancer in Tolo Ko Tolo and performs with traditional African dance ensembles such as Afidance and Zimbabwean bands, Spirit Talk Mbira and Chimanimani.
Denise has trained in African dance in the UK, Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, Zimbabwe and with the Baka hunter gatherers in the Cameroonian rainforest. She has recently completed contemporary dance training in Bristol and is also a student of Aikido.
Denise has seven years experience of teaching pan-African dance and facilitating workshops for children and adults in schools
Workshops include learning techniques, dances, songs, rhythms and choreography as well as exploring themes, history and cultural contexts. There is always an expressive, creative aspect such as creating new movement, choreography, rhythm or improvisation using various stimuli. These workshops are dynamic, fun and informative.
Cecilia ndlovu Cecilia ndlovu a naturally born talented musician and dancer was born in the city of bulawayo Zimbabwe,started singing and dancing in school, at 16, joined a ladies troup which was managed under Black umfolosi called umhlathuzi, this group was accapella singing and doing some trditional zulu dances, and drumming.
After three yrs Cecilia then moved to the capital city of zimbabwe Harare where she then joined a famous singer and super star of zimbabwe oliver mtukudzi who she worked with him for 6yrs as a backing singer and helped him to record on some of his 5 albams. cecilia is now based here in the uk since 2000, teaching and perfoming music and dance from zimbabwe with Abantu arts.
