African Workshops for Schools - Abantu Arts

Africa week:

We can run an African Arts workshops and projects suitable for school Africa Focus days,School Africa week,Global focus days, fair trade days, international focus weeks. these projects and workshops can combine three different  activities to run on the same day or during the week.

Our Africa Focus Days are each delivered by three or more professional artists (of African dance, African singing, African drumming or visual arts).

We will give students an opportunity to see authentic African musicians , drummers, singers and costumes at close hand and discuss the traditional dress the artists will be wearing. They will take in a collection of display materials and objects, work tools and crafts all collected from people back in Africa.

The artists will describe the country of their birth

  • Where it is located (how far away it is)
  • Its climate
  • Its principle industries
  • The practiced religions
  • Whether it is a predominately rural or urban economy

They will tell students

  • Why and when they came from
  • Where their families live now
  • And how often they return to their country of birth (if at all).
  • They will paint a picture of childhood, family and community life in their country of origin.

These sessions are very practical inclusive and very good value for money.
