DENIS, originally from Uganda in East Africa, lives and works in Devon, England. He is founder and director of ABANTU
ARTS, which was created to explore, develop and pass on traditional, cultural,educational African art forms to schools,Colleges, Universities,youth groups, communities, festivals and other education establishments and communities in England and beyond, using African music, African drumming and dance, poetry, story telling and hand crafts.
The company’s outstanding reputation has resulted in numerous alliances/collaborations with Schools, organizations and institutions throughout the South West-Devon,Cornwall, somerset,Dorset England and other parts of UK, parts of Europe and USA.
Denis has been running educative African culture ‘edutainment’ projects for the last 6 years. He has lead already over 3000 workshops for Children, schools, colleges,Universities, Teachers and communities, through open music projects, performances, youth programs, promotion of new artists, lecture demonstrations, community outreach & creative partnership programs with renowned artists and other performing companies.
Denis is an active member of various arts organisations and initiatives in England.
- He is Uganda and south west England representative for Commonwealth resounds
- He is a registered artist with (DAISI) Devon arts in schools initiative
- He is a member of the steering committee for Exeter respect festival
- Conductor Devon youth djembe ensemble supported by Devon Music services

OBJECTIVES
ABANTU pursues its mission through ongoing African Music and arts workshops, performances, youth programs, Africa tours and trips for students, lecture demonstrations, community outreach through African Music, and creative partnership programs with renowned artists and performing companies both in England and Africa.
We are also involved in supporting a number of projects in Uganda including Suubi medical clinic providing medical care to people in Busu Village.
